BYU Winter Intex 2025

Full-Stack Web App

Movie recommendation platform

React TypeScript C# .NET Figma Scrum Security
BYU Winter Intex 2025 — Project team

Overview

A Netflix-inspired movie recommendation web app built for a fictional streaming company as the capstone Intex project at the end of my junior year. The platform recommends movies based on how users rate titles they've seen, with a full CRUD backend, cookie consent and security compliance, and a polished UI designed from scratch in Figma before a single line of code was written.

My Role

Full-stack contributor — led Figma UI/UX design, implemented frontend components in React + TypeScript, and built backend API routes in C# .NET. Did not work on the recommendation engine itself.

The Challenge

Shipping a secure, production-quality web app for a fictional client smaller than Netflix — with proper cookie handling, user privacy considerations, and a design-first workflow using Figma and Scrum sprints.

Key Highlights

  • Designed full UI/UX in Figma before development — wireframes through high-fidelity mockups
  • Built React + TypeScript frontend with a responsive, accessible interface
  • Developed C# .NET backend API with full CRUD operations
  • Implemented cookie consent and security best practices for a production-ready app
  • Worked in Scrum methodology with sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives
  • Movie recommendations powered by a collaborative filtering engine built by teammates

Outcome

Delivered a fully functional movie recommendation platform with a polished Figma-designed UI, secure cookie handling, and a complete full-stack implementation — on time and within Scrum sprints.
